Auditions for Unit 8

I auditioned for Janet in 'Rocky Horror Show' with the song 'toucha toucha toucha touch me' that she sings in the musical. I also used a monologue from a play called 'Goodbye Charles'. The monologue is about a woman who 'eats' her divorce papers with ketchup because she doesn't want to get divorced.

We each gave each other feedback on 'what went well' and 'even better if'. The feedback I received  included:  

What Went Well:

• Characterisation 
• good projection 
• good expression
• confidence in the lyrics
• good pace
• good diction
• good intent behind the words
• nice voice

Even Better If:

• More support on higher notes
• Try an accent to match the words
• Work on the transition between chest and head voice

Reflection on my own piece:

I think my monologue went well because I have good characterisation throughout the piece and I projected well. I used good expression and movements throughout it and tried to sell that I was that character. However, I think it could have gone better if I used the space around me more and made it a lot bigger. I think my song went well because I had good characterisation, confidence in the lyrics  and good expression. It could have been better if I had more support behind my higher notes and I need to work on my transition between chest voice and head voice. I believe my nerves got in the way of my performance so I need to work on my confidence.
